2 Towns Ciderhouse Releases 2014 Vintage Afton Field, an American Farmhouse Cider from its Traditions Line
Corvallis, Ore. – March 29, 2017 – The 2014 vintage Afton Field (6.4% ABV), an American Farmhouse cider, is now available in limited quantities from 2 Towns Ciderhouse. Inspired by farmhouse ciders of the pioneer West, Afton Field is a testament to the tenacity of these settlers and their enduring orchards. Fresh-pressed, hand-picked Wickson crab, Newtown Pippin and other pioneer apple varieties are fermented, aged in oak barrels, and bottle-conditioned with wild Brettanomyces yeast. Bone dry, unfiltered and uncompromising, this farmhouse cider is wild at heart and right at home on the rustic table.
“Agrarian to the core, Afton Field has notes of straw and wood, and a high acidity that gives it a versatility in pairing with food,” said Dave Takush, head cider maker for 2 Towns Ciderhouse. “It’s the ultimate picnic cider. We recommend pairing it with a checkered blanket as you watch the clouds roll by, and enjoying it with a fresh baguette, a rich, triple-cream Delice de Bourgogne cheese, slices of French jambon and your favorite pickled vegetables.”
In its third vintage, the 2014 Afton Field release received a silver medal from the US Open Cider Championship. Afton Field 2011 and 2012 vintages both received silver medals from the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition.
Afton Field was previously produced by Traditions Ciderworks, a sister company of 2 Towns Ciderhouse. Last year Traditions Ciderworks and its products were brought under the 2 Towns name in its Traditions line of specialty barrel-aged, vintage ciders. Afton Field is available in extremely limited quantities, at the 2 Towns Tap Room and at select bottle shops throughout the West Coast starting the week of March 27th.
