FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Corvallis, Ore. – August 13, 2019 2 Towns Ciderhouse and Portland Thorns FC are teaming up during the month of September to fight food insecurity in Oregon! Dubbed “Hunger Action Month”, the collaboration is in support of the Oregon Food Bank and their mission to eliminate hunger and its root causes!

Proceeds of sales of 2 Towns’ cider at participating supermarkets will be donated to the Oregon Food Bank. In addition, on August 25th, 2 Towns is hosting a peanut butter drive at Providence Park during the Thorns match against the Chicago Red Stars, and encourage fans to bring unopened containers of peanut butter to drop points in the stadium.

The monetary and food donations from 2 Towns and the Thorns will help Oregon Food Bank work to eliminate hunger by assuring Oregonians meet their nutritional needs, providing nutrition education, and addressing systemic issues that contribute to hunger in our communities. Currently 1 in 7 Oregonians suffer from food insecurity – with children making up 35% of those – and do not have access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.

“Despite the bounty of our region, food insecurity is still a major issue in Oregon. Every aspect of life is impacted when you are not sure where your next meal will come from, and odds are someone in your life is having to manage this day to day struggle,” said Scott Bugni, Marketing Director at 2 Towns Ciderhouse, “Oregon Food Bank is filling a vital need in our communities by advocating for change and working to treat the root causes of hunger, not just the symptoms. 2 Towns Ciderhouse is excited to partner with the Portland Thorns to help support this essential program.

Visit your local participating grocer to pick up some 2 Towns Cider and help fight hunger here in the Northwest! Also, check out Oregonfoodbank.org to find out more about these great organizations, hunger in the Northwest and what else you can do to help!
